Carbon County Democrat Caucus

Please come out and learn about how candidates are elected to represent the Democrat Party in Utah. We need to select delegates to represent us at the County Convention and the State Convention. Becoming a delegate is an important way to have your voice and that of your neighbor's heard in local, state and federal politics. This year is especially important as the country is experiencing a move back to the center due to the troubling policies, behavior and economic distress that the Republican party has heaped upon us. That being said, our caucus meeting is not a closed meeting. Individuals registered to any party can earn the right to become a delegate. This open style is especially appropriate this year as many people who normally lean conservative are recognizing that this administration and its feeble Congress are shirking both their responsibility to the electorate and too the constitution. We encourage you to invite your friends who may be disillusioned with how their vote has been taken for granted and used as a stepping stone to veer down the wrong path.

Please look to attend one of the most important meetings for Carbon County Democrats this year. At this year's convention you will get to meet the local candidates for Commissioner, HD67 and CD3. National events are changing rapidly and all indicators are that the Democrats will gain control of the House and even possibly the Senate.
If you have attended any of the local town, city or county meetings you should be aware that President Trump has drastically altered the relationship between the federal government and rural communities. As you can imagine, that shift leaves rural communities on the outside looking in. Local Republican leaders continue to act oblivious to this reality and it is incumbent upon us to get this message out. The rest of the country is learning but our county seems slow to recognize just how much money has been taken away from infrastructure, tourism, water and rural health programs and initiatives. We could alter our path by electing democrats at the state and federal level that will have a seat at the table as national democrats attempt to rebalance the traditional working relationship between rural communities and Washington.
Strategically, it is the prudent decision to shift from continually electing ineffective republican officials. As an example, our representative for HD67 recently commented that she was surprised at how much the Big Beautiful Bill was cutting from the State budget. How did Congressman Kennedy not relay this important information to her prior to his vote to support it? One reason. He was equally ignorant of its far reaching negative impact. That is why his local ads focus on him helping you with passport questions.
There have been times when both national parties have failed Carbon County but after twenty years of malaise and this last year of higher taxes vis-a-vis the unproductive and stifling tariffs, a congress unwilling to do its job in managing the public purse, increases in unemployment, a runaway masked militia with quotas and poor behavior and now a war, hopefully short-lived, which has resulted in an almost 20% increase in local gas prices, it is time to reclaim the reins of power and get Washington back on the path of working for the average American. We are tired of this absolute deference to the "Epstein Class" both in how legislation allows them to control how wealth is being transferred to them from the working class and also how they have insulated themselves above the law.
So come and meet our candidates. Come learn how Democrats want to improve your lives and stand firm alongside democratic principles. See Something. Say Something, Do Something. The United States is the richest country in the world. Does it feel like that here in Carbon County? If not, then be part of the change. Your children demand it, your grandchildren deserve it and our ancestors expect it. Let's reclaim our county's rich legacy of political participation and community action. The popularity contest is over.
